Native Location: Southeast coast of Sumatra

Environment: Blackwater swamp and shallow pools

Water and Hardness: Calcium-magnesium – 0-1; alkaline 0-1

Water pH: 4.8

In Aquaria:

Physical Appearance: 

•    Yellowish brown body
•    Darker on top
•    Light spotting on lower body
•    Golden, iridescent spot on gill cover
•    Light, horizontal band runs the length of the fish and divides it into dark and light stripes

Finnage:

•    Caudal fin is similar to a rhombus shape

Size: Exceeds 4 inches in length

Water and Hardness: Calcium-magnesium – 0-1; alkaline 0-1

Water pH: 4.8-5.0

Note: The Betta chloropharynx is on the IUCN Red List for vulnerable species.
