Native Location: Borneo

Environment: River tributaries and forest streams

Water pH: 5.5-6.0

In Aquaria:

Physical Appearance: 

•    Dark grayish brown
•    Lower gill and throat has iridescent blue-green scales
•    Black stripe running through the eye area

Finnage:

•    Males – Caudal fin is very pointed
•    Males – Caudal and anal fins have black edges
•    Anal fins have bright blue submargins

Size: Males – 4.5 inches in length; Females – slightly smaller

Feeding in Captivity: Live and frozen food

Water and Hardness: Neutral – hardness and/or softness is unimportant

Water Temperature: 75-79 degrees Fahrenheit

Water pH: 6.0-7.2

Breeding: Provide a large 30 gallon or more tank that is darkened with black plastic and has plentiful vegetation. Feed often.
