Native Location: Mostly Borneo but also on Sumatra, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam

Environment: Clear, moving streams and turbid ditches

Water Temperature: 82 degrees Fahrenheit

In Aquaria:

Physical Appearance: 

•    Gray to yellowish body
•    Iridescent green on the gill cover

Finnage:

•    Anal fin has dark band
•    Caudal fins are submargined with a lighter band

Size: More than 3 inches in length

Feeding in Captivity: Live and frozen as well as flaked and dried

Water and Hardness: Near zero calcium-magnesium hardness

Water Temperature: 75 degrees Fahrenheit

Water pH: Tolerates a variety of conditions

Breeding: This fish is not easy to breed and does not fight off diseases very well especially in dirty water. The Betta taeniata female can produce a clutch of up to 300 eggs.
