Hi Jenna,

For small tanks and containers, I prefer glass because they are easier to clean. I found that acrylic tanks are easier to scratch when you don't use the proper cleaning supplies and cloths to wipe down the exterior.

Acrylic does scratch. I don't like the look of it when it is scratched. I have seen some well-taken care of acrylic tanks without scratches but they seem like more hassle to me. I prefer glass because they are more durable when cleaning and you really can't drop either one or they will break...glass seems more durable overall.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you prefer glass tanks, they can be hard to drill holes into, but they won't scratch as much as acrylic.

Good luck!

I've had both! Acrylic/plastic tanks don't weight as much as glass but like others have said they scratch easier. When filled with water the scratches may not be as noticeable. Glass is much easier to clean and sanitize if you get problems with diseases. With plastic tanks there are many more shapes and sizes to choose from. Either way get what you like and will make your Betta happy and healthy!

I have also used both, I currently have a glass tank made
By flugal called the edge it has a great filter but is pricey. But in my opinion
Glass is the way to go , as others have stated , acrylic tanks scratch
Easily and also can make the tank view distorted . Glass to me is the way
To go ! Also make sure that the tank is at least 5 gallons for one Betta fish
At least ! Recommended seems to be 10 gallons .
