Jumping betta

Postby yvonnerw » Sun Jun 30, 2013 3:22 pm

Over the years of keeping betta, I've had a few who must have exceptionally good aim. They can aim at a hole in the top of their little aquarium that is about 1 1/2 inches across and make it out of the tank. A few I've found on the counter or floor in time to save and some have not been so lucky. Is this a normal betta trait? Anyone else have this happen?

Hi!

Yes, Bettas are jumpers. I always keep a cover on my Bettas' tanks for this reason:)

What he said - I've had one betta die that way (it was heartbreaking) and a few of my sorority girls are known for leaping from their tank at feeding time no matter what I do to try to prevent it. They're really good at it.
