Color fading

My betta was a brilliant blue and black with red long fins underneath. For the past couple weeks he has gotten pale, especially under his chin. He looks more brown now that black and his blue has lost its luster. He still interacts with me like usual, jumping at me, biting my finger, eating, etc., his appetite is good, he just doesn't look happy. I change his water weekly and have tested the water and everything is normal as it should be. The pH for some reason had gotten up to 8, but other than that, everything is good. His water is 76 degrees as it has gotten cooler outside. I do have a heater but it isn't one you can adjust. In the summer his water was closer to 80 degrees. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might do to perk him back up? Thank you!
